Responsible for directing the overall implementation of the organization's outpatient usage of the NextGen Electronic Medical Record system across all PMCC & PHI practices. Serves as the primary champion and driver for the universal and proper usage of EPM & EMR by effectively and efficiently managing all resources. Responsible for the development and adherence to project schedules, set objectives, established timelines and other related plans. Directs the overall implementation of and training for the organization's EMR usage; coordinates each practice's preparation and go-live activities. Manages the EMR implementation and training team(s) by establishing deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring progress and summarizing results. Supervises and directs the selection, training & development and work performance of IS staff having EPM & EMR implementation and training responsibilities. Develops and maintains adherence to project schedules, set objectives, established timelines and other related plans. Creates site-specific plans for individual offices/practices. Prioritizes planning and project management activities to meet EMR project schedules, set objectives, established timelines and other related plans. Collaborates with the PMCC & PHI  IS Directors,  physicians, their staff and other users in the organization to manage project implementation, system upgrades, and support of all automated clinical information systems. Reports hardware and other technical issues and concerns to the IS Directors. Develops, coordinates implementation of and monitors the NextGen EPM & EMR ‘Superuser Certification' program. Periodically provides updates to senior management, organizational leadership and the Physician's Council and communicates across multiple organization levels. Participates in the Physician User Group Meetings (PUG). Schedules and conducts training for both train-the-trainer and end-users as necessary.  Collaborates with senior administrative staff, physicians and POD Leaders to expand and optimize EMR usage in individual offices/practices. Develops policies and procedures for: enterprise integration of clinical data, appropriate usage, compliance and enforcement, as well as specific audit and security issues relating to clinical data. Produces appropriate user documentation. Attends all necessary Education classes and becomes a subject matter expert on the on NextGen EPM & EMR. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of clinical applications developments and best practices.  Attends vendor-sponsored educational training and events. Assists in obtaining, purchasing or creating clinical templates as needed. Completes tasks as assigned in a cost-effective, efficient and timely manner. Develops metrics on continuous quality improvement that can be used to gauge success of EMR usage. Expands/markets EMR usage to Piedmont Clinic membership. Demonstrates the organization's EMR usage to other potential NextGen clients. Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Technology or related field strongly preferred.  Six to eight years of progressively responsible, related experience in outpatient EMR project management for physician offices or in a similar healthcare setting.  Advanced computer hardware & software literacy required; including proficiency in server environments, interfaces, databases, and PC set-up of supported systems. Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and resolve issues. Previous experience with NextGen  EMP & EMR strongly preferred. Superior organizational and analytical skills, as well as exceptional oral/written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills to support physicians, their staff and other users in the organization in a positive/collaborative environment. Flexible schedule; must be able to attend after-hours meetings as required. Position requires the ability to shift work schedule depending upon the needs/demands of the organization. Frequent local travel to supported locations.
